Dame Plume's Story
    Français

Dame Plume is a pretty, long-haired cat, born in January 2009. Her coat resembles beautiful dark feathers on a white duvet, and that is how she got her name. She was found living outside last winter, and was sterilized and vaccinated when the Refuge took her in. Her foster family provided her with a welcoming home where she could get back on her feet, but unfortunately, Dame Plume often suffered from diarrhoea.

During a medical exam, the veterinarian discovered that one of Dame Plume's molars was very rotten: because it caused her pain, she wasn't chewing properly, and this is why she was having gastro-intestinal problems. In order to have her teeth cleaned and the molar removed, Dame Plume had to undergo dental surgery under anaesthesia. This treatment was very expensive, so we decided to set up a sponsorship for Dame Plume in order to seek financial aid.

In spite of her discomfort, Dame Plume was in excellent spirits: she was always ready to play with the other cats in her foster home, to sit in someone's lap, or to be brushed. Happily, our call for sponsorship was successful, and we were able to make an appointment quickly for Dame Plume to get the help she needed.

Dame Plume was brought to the vet for a pre-surgical check-up. The very next day, she finally had two of her premolars removed and the rest of her teeth cleaned. The vet found her to be a magnificent cat! Dame Plume then returned home to her foster family for a short and well-deserved recovery.

After she had had her dental surgery, we had hoped to find an adoptive family for Dame Plume that would give her the comfort of having the permanent home she deserved .and we found one! A young couple has adopted Dame Plume. Catherine and Jonathan will take excellent care of her by giving her special food to prevent gingivitis, by brushing her soft coat to keep it tangle-free, and, most importantly, by offering her a home filled with love.

THANK YOU to Dame Plume's generous sponsors: Catherine, Clothilde, Cynthia, Geneviève, Johanne, Serge and Yvan. Your donations have greatly improved Dame Plume's quality of life, and have given her the helping hand she needed in order to find an adoptive home.

We wish the beautiful Dame Plume a wonderful new life in her new home!
