|The story of JONAS|

They fell in love with Jonas
Things went according to plan. The entire family fell totally in love with Jonas, and Line thought without reservation about adopting him. This is totally understandable, because Jonas has a very charming personality! Only one doubt prevented the Drouin family from making a final decision: Jonas had a cyst on his left cheek. Did Jonas have cancer? Would the family grow attached to Jonas, only to lose him to an incurable illness? In addition to being a cause of worry, having the cyst removed would be very expensive. On top of the operation itself, Jonas would need a blood test to ensure that his kidneys were working properly before being anaesthetized, and the liquid contained in the cyst would need to be tested in the lab. The veterinarian estimated the cost of all this to be almost $500.
Sponsorship saved Jonas
Because the Refuge is a non-profit organization managed entirely by volunteers and financed entirely by donations, it was decided that a sponsorship would be sought to finance Jonas's surgery. Two people responded to this call for help: Bob Kassab and Gina Fiorito. Thanks to the generous hearts of these two people, Jonas was soon freed from his cyst and the pain it had been causing him. Following the operation, Jonas returned to Line Drouin's house, and his new foster family became his adoptive family. The family provided him with all the post-operative care he needed in order to get well.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
On behalf of Jonas, the team of Refuge volunteers wishes to thank his godfather Bob Kassab and his godmother Gina Fiorito, from the bottom of his heart for making the removal of his cyst, which could have eventually turned fatal, possible. A huge thanks as well to his "mother" Line Drouin, who took painstaking care of Jonas during his recovery, for her numerous donations to the Refuge. Thanks also to Sophie Riopel and the Refuge volunteer for having taken care of Jonas when he was homeless: because of you, he received food and affection when he needed it most.
